SGUARDI AUSTRALIANI 21+ YEARS

SGUARDI AUSTRALIANI, 21 YEARS AGO IN GENOA, ITALY / The film culture event Sguardi australiani took place 21 years ago, with the first edition screening over three days in June at the cinema complex of the Magazzini del Cotone, Genova. 13 Australian short films,13 Australian filmmakers. Endorsed by the Australian Embassy in Rome, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the City of Genova. 5 editions of Sguardi australiani ensued in the cities of Genova, Camogli, Prato. Sguardi australiani was conceived and curated by Silvana Tuccio, and produced by Lacunae.  

In 2011, the Sguardi australiani Archive was established with the films, Italian subtitles, documents held at the Monash University Prato Centre, in Prato, Italy. It's visited by school groups, and serves the community. Highlights of the Sguardi australiani Archive include the films of Giorgio Mangiamele, the films of Tracey Moffatt, Australian classics, documentaries and animation, Indigenous films, including a documentary of the life of David Gulpilil. And Italian subtitles.
