Researched and wrote the PhD Dissertation Who is behind the camera, University of Melbourne, 2009, which is available on the University of Melbourne Institutional Repository Minerva Access. The dissertation is mentioned by Professor Sneja Gunew in a talk (2:10min-2:40min) given during the Ailae Summer School, University of Venice, 2010. Researched and wrote thesis on the cinema of Pier Paolo Pasolini as part of Honours in Literary Criticism at Deakin University, 1995, supervised by Professor Tony Wilson.

Editor of the collection of essays on Australian film for Le Mani Editore, an Italian publisher specialised in film: Sguardi australiani. Idee, immaginari e cinema dagli antipodi (Genova: Le Mani, 2005), which is in the National Library of Australia Collection. The volume features contributions from Australian film scholars in translation, and highlights the breadth of Australian cinema. Preface by Italian film critic Stefano della Casa. 

Published an essay in the Catalogue of the film culture event: Sguardi australiani. Visioni Urbane: cortometraggi e registi che raccontano la metropoli e la lontananza (Genova: 2002, Le Mani Editore).

Contributed book chapter to the volume edited by Franca Tamisari and Francesca di Blasi: in which the films of Tracey Moffat, Ivan Sen, Darlene Johnson and Richard Frankland are discussed: La Sfida dell'arte Indigena australiana, (Jaca Book, Milan:2008) edited by Franca Tamisari and Francesca di Blasi from the University of Venice Ca Foscari; .

Curated the section on Australia for the 2015 edition of the Milan film festival Sguardi altrove, . I selected three Australian films from the Sguardi australiani Archive and together with Australian filmmaker and producer Franco di Chiera, actress Carmelina di Guglielmo and the director of the festival, Patricia Rapazzo, I sat on a roundtable. For the occasion I wrote a presentation of the three films that were screened and my contribution to the conversation (in Italian).

the city

In 2009, I began to look at the city beyond the lens of the camera. Lifegate Magazine. Contributed 11 articles between 2009 and 2012. 

In 2011, I took part in the Spaces & Flows Conference on Urban and ExtraUrban Studies. Subsequently, I wrote the article (2016)\(2014) “Cities into Sustainability: The Space of Sustainable Living in the City,” Spaces and Flows: An International Journal of Urban and ExtraUrban Studies, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2014, pp.63-69. I was also Associate Editor for the Journal.

Between 2012 and 2014, I collaborated on the Waterwheel World Water Day Symposium as a committee member and curator. During that time I reflected on the relevance of water narratives for resilience. I produced a workshop focusing on water in Ortigia, which culminated in a day of events as part of the UN World Water Day. I wrote about the process in (2015) “Acqua, Luce, Ortigia: The Culture of Water Environments – an Overview” in Water Views: Caring and Daring, Igneous pp 403

In 2017, I was artist in residence at Chantilly Studio Inc., Melbourne, where I began `writing about the Sicily experience.
